BULLETIN
Issue # 2021-013-I
October 8, 2021
TO: MHA Presidents & Administrators
FROM: Jim Humphrey, VIAHA President
COPY: VIAHA Officers and Staff
SUBJECT: Mandatory Vaccination Requirement
Following the lead of other MHA’s within our District, a motion was approved by the VIAHA Executive
Committee at a special meeting on October 6th, 2021 to mandate the following vaccination requirement within
our District:

Effective November 22nd, 2021 all team officials and volunteers working with teams under VIAHA
Membership must provide evidence of receiving two doses of a COVID 19 vaccination to their MHA. This
includes coaches, assistant coaches, on ice helpers, for fee instructors, team managers, safety persons, off
ice officials including scorekeepers and timekeepers, plus any persons who might have access to the dressing
rooms for all VIAHA sanctioned events.

As clarification, this mandated requirement is expected of all those volunteering and working within our District
only. Any persons who fail to meet this expectation by the Nov 22nd, 2021 deadline will be removed from all
rosters and considered no longer able to volunteer or work with our minor hockey players. *Only medical
exemptions provided by a Medical Doctor will be considered.
We ask that MHA’s please assign one person within their organization to keep records on all those required to
meet this mandate within their respective association. This information will be kept strictly confidential and will
not be distributed beyond that assigned person. *Please do not record this information on the Hockey Canada
Registry (HCR).

The October 6th vote result shows that the health and safety of our District members is of top priority. While
VIAHA understands and respects the freedom of choice of our volunteers we feel this is a necessary tool to
help prevent and alleviate the spread of COVID-19, especially among those who are too young to be
vaccinated at this time.
Please give this information the widest possible distribution within your organization.
Yours sincerely,

Jim Humphrey, VIAHA President
